# Marriage tools and resources

There are 2 important points to keep in mind. They are the reason we always marry parents of the same rank.

1. Same Rank Bonus. Children born from parents of the same rank receive some free awakening bonus (and possibly inherit more skill slots. Not confirmed). Mismatch ranks means no bonus at all.
2. Affinity (shown in-game as Compatibility). When job pairs have higher affinity, child will receive higher Same Rank Bonus. Affinity is the data mined from game and goes from 60-100, while Compatibility is what shown in game as A B C D E

* Part of KA Interactive Tool. Input the jobs you have along with gender (f m u for gender. "guard u" for ex), click "Calculate" at bottom/bottom-right and it find all matches for you.

* Same function as the one in data mine.

* Actual child awakening formula in the first tab
* Job pair affinity in the `JobPair_lookup` tab

So how do we make use of these? Let's take an example from my [simplified table](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ic1CIdFFoeU_wvmMuMPpd84DF3XCb0Ln_HPJ-qg1PrY).

This means:

* Farmer is best paired with carpenter and researcher
* Farmer + Carpenter ⇒ produce Entertainer offspring
* Farmer + Researcher ⇒ produce Blacksmith offspring

Do we need to always pick pair with best affinity? Short answer is, no. Especially not important for non-combat offspring. However. We already take time to marry the parents. Might as well go for the best right?
