# Upgrade Materials

Briefly mentioned in [Items to keep](/kingdom-adventurers/items-to-keep.md). These are materials needed for leveling facilities.

For clarity. The game does use the term Ore in a couple places.

First are ones in resource panel. Hi-lighted left one is just Ore, the right red one is Mystic Ore

And then there are the Iron Ore, Bronze, Gold, that are stored as items. I'll refer to these as Metals to avoid confusion.

As you can see from the Town Hall example. We usually need both resource and materials to level our facilities. And a few will require coins too.

So how do we obtain them?

Early game, you have to rely on monster drops. Deploy units out to farm, or if you're actively playing, defog and reset.

As you progress, you will obtain facilities to produce them. Clearing fog lv 16 gives you Tool Workshop. It's an interior furniture. You need to give lands to your units and place it inside their houses.

Only people living in the house can use its furniture. Tool workshop has a chance to generate nails, boards, bricks and ropes when used.

Some other furniture you will want to have are Tree Nursery which generates seeds for growing wood/grass, and Ore Workbench which generates all sorts of mineral ores.

Study Desk and Glittering Stone produce the same products as tool and ore workbench. These 2 can be leveled up which grant more exp per use..

Another not so easy to come by materials are cloths. These will drop quite rarely at first and you may have to rely on Material Shop for a while.

Drop rate increases significantly once you are able to reach Snow zones.
